Polish Bishops encourage spiritual preparation during Advent, in order to prepare ourselves well for Christmas. They emphasize that participation in Rorate Masses, Advent retreats and confession will help in this.

The Rorate Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is celebrated before the dawn, takes its name from the opening words of the Introit (Is 45:8): “Rorate, caeli, desuper…” – “Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just”. Many Polish children participate with their parents throughout the whole period of Advent in Rorate Masses.

The social media campaign #Rorate (#Roraty) is launched once again this year. It consists in publishing in social media photos, video materials and short texts of Rorate Masses celebrated during Advent in churches and chapels throughout Poland.

„It’s not about posting such materials just to show something. The main goal is to encourage participation in Rorate Masses and spiritual preparation for Christmas. It is also important to remember about the poor, lonely and needed at this time” – said Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.
