The week began with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of episcopal ordination of Monsignor Achille Ratti. He was the first papal nuncio to independent Poland and then Pope Pius XI. The solemn Eucharist in St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw was presided by Archbishop Mario Delpini, metropolitan of Milan. Monsignor Ratti became also Metropolitan of Milan after three years spent in Warsaw.

On the 1st of November we celebrated All Saints’ Day which was marked by many Holy Wins initiatives – that is marches of children dressed up as their favourites saints like St. Joseph, St. John Paul II, St. Rita, St. Mother Teresa.

On the 2nd of November, on All Souls’ Day, we commemorated all the faithful departed. In Poland on this day and during the Octave of All Saints, people visit cemeteries in order to pray for their beloved ones who departed. We also prayed for the five Polish bishops who died in the past year.

Let us remember that until the 8th of November we are in the Octave of All Saints’ Day. That means we can gain a plenary indulgence by receiving Holy Communion, visiting a cemetery and praying in Pope’s intentions. This indulgence is applicable only to the souls in Purgatory.

I wish you a blessed Sunday and a good week.
