Poland introduces ALFA alert level

Prime Minister Beata Szydlo has signed a decision to introduce an ALFA alert level in connection with World Youth Day, government spokesman Rafal Bochenek told PAP on Wednesday.

The ALFA alert level will be in effect as of midnight July 20 until the end of August 1. As regards cyberspace in effect will be the BRAVO alert level, said Bochenek.

Following the introduction of the ALFA level, public authorities will be obliged to carry out checks of public places and large population centres. They will have to send information to appropriate services on cases of suspicious packages and cars or about suspiciously behaving individuals.

Government institutions will also be obliged to check their alert systems and evacuation routes and their capacity, review procedures related to the introduction of higher levels of alert. (PAP)
