Polish Bishops Ask Victims of Sexual Abuse for Forgiveness
“We ask God, the victims of abuse, their families and the Church community for forgiveness for all the harm done to children and young people and their relatives” – the Polish Bishops wrote in a statement published on November 19 by the Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference dedicated to sexual abuse of children and youth by some members of the clergy.
The President of the Episcopate: The parish must be a home for the young
Everything must be done to make the Church our home,to make the parish our home, and so that the young can feel at home in the Church, said Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, summing up the Synod of Bishops on Young People that ended today (October 28th). According to the Archbishop, the most important thing is the Synod's approach to youth ministry in the vocational key.

Today, the morning session was devoted to working in groups on the adoption of the relation regarding Part 3 of the Instrumentum Laboris. The discussion focused on the meaning of the message of faith and how the action of God is expressed. The topic of the difficulties that young people meet with on their path was also addressed.

Please, let me call Your attention just to one - but in my opinion crucial - a moment of our reflection based on the Instrumentum Laboris. In the point 173 we read: All accompaniment is a way to introduce the call to joy and can thus become the appropriate place to proclaim the good news of Easter and foster the encounter with the risen Christ: a kerygma that «expresses God’s saving love which precedes any moral and religious obligation on our part; it should not impose the truth but appeal to freedom; it should be marked by joy, encouragement, liveliness and a harmonious balance» (EG 165) - the last piece is a quotation of Evangelii gaudium.
