The deadline for obtaining press accreditation for World Youth Day Krakow 2016 and Pope Francis’ visit to Poland expires on June 30. After that date, applications will not be accepted.
Initially the deadline for the accreditation of journalists for the media coverage of World Youth Days was June 24. WYD organisers expect some 5,000-6,000 journalists from over 200 countries to be interested in the events.

Press accreditation is carried out online only and will end on June 30, 2016. After this deadline, it will no longer be possible to file documents.
“Never before has there been so much interest in Poland as today, in connection with World Youth Day and the visit of Holy Father Pope Francis,” Krakow Metropolitan Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz said on February 29.
Press accreditation started in March. General Coordinator of the WYD Krakow 2016 Organising Committee Bishop Damian Muskus stressed that the task had been entrusted to PAP and KAI, two agencies with experience in handling similar events, including pilgrimages to Poland by popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. The bishop reiterated there were nearly 5,000 journalists accredited for WYD in Madrid in 2011, 80 broadcaster cameras and 22.5 million views of the official website.
About 5,000-6,000 journalists and photojournalists from over 200 countries could come to Krakow, the organisers estimate. “It is a promotion opportunity for Poland, Krakow and the Malopolska region,” Bishop Muskus said.
Apart from information about the Church and WYD, the Pope2016 portal also presents information about Poland, its authorities, history, tradition, culture, tourist attractions, scientific achievements, nature and economy, as well as practical information that may prove useful during WYD.
World Youth Day 2016 will be held in Krakow on July 26-31 under the motto "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy". (KAI/PAP)
