In his letter, read to conscripted WYD pilgrims during Sunday's official hoisting of the World Youth Day flag in Warsaw's Krasinski Square, Duda wrote that participation in the WYD festivities was a "valuable experience" for professional soldiers and cadets alike, and an occasion "for soldiers from many countries of the world to pray for peace".
Attending the July 26-31 WYD festivities in Krakow, south Poland and nearby Brzegi are 700 soldiers from ten countries, including over 400 Poles, about 100 Frenchmen, 70 Spaniards and smaller groups from the US, Britain and Italy. (PAP)
