Poland's Primate, Archbishop Wojciech Polak, presided over today's celebrations of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Czestochowa at Jasna Gora. In his homily, the Primate noted that, with this celebration, we are, in a certain way, prolonging the joy of May's Solemnity of Our Lady, Queen of Poland, when, on the occasion of the 1050th anniversary of Poland's Baptism, we renewed our consecration to the Mother of the Redeemer.
"Today's Solemnity of Our Lady of Czestochowa is another occasion to turn to her. It is an opportunity to seek her intercession before God, to believe in the vitalizing power of her life, to penetrate her action and draw strength for our life and conduct," said Archbishop Wojciech Polak in his homily at Jasna Gora.
Today, the Polish parishes renew their Act of Consecration to Our Lady, Queen of Poland. This is another part of the celebration of the 1050th anniversary of Poland's Baptism. Earlier this year, on 3 May, the Solemnity of Our Lady, Queen of Poland, a new Act of Consecration was made and placed, along with that of 1966, in a special cylinder next to the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
