Presence in social media is necessary in the Church’s contemporary communication with the media and the faithful, because it is currently the fastest and most effective way of communicating with a wide range of recipients - said the spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Fr. Leszek Gęsiak. Since September 2nd this year, the spokesman of the Polish Episcopate has been present in social media - on Twitter and on Facebook.
The spokesman of the Polish Episcopate stressed that social media are not only an opportunity for the Church to reach those users who remain far from the community of believers, but also to ensure that the Church is not excluded from this fast and direct communication, which is used by millions of people.
“Through my presence in social media, I will be able to participate in a virtual community of believers and contribute to the promotion of Christian values on the Internet. This is an excellent opportunity to evangelise this digital continent, where many people who seek and doubt can be found” – said Fr. Gęsiak.
The Press Office of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki - the President of the Polish Episcopate, as well as many Polish bishops and many dioceses are already present in social media. Fr. Leszek Gęsiak joins the wide group of social media users to reach even more people with the news of the Polish Episcopate.
