April 29: Day of Martyrdom of the Polish Clergy in World War II (announcement)

On April 29, we will celebrate the Day of Martyrdom of the Polish Clergy during World War II. The main celebrations will take place at the National Shrine of St Joseph in Kalisz, at noon. Mass will be presided over by Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland, who will also deliver a homily.

The Eucharist will be preceded by the opening of an exhibition on World War II martyr priests at 11 a.m. in the Shrine of St Joseph.

These celebrations are a way of carrying on the thanksgiving pilgrimages made by priest-prisoners of the Dachau concentration camp, who were miraculously liberated from camp captivity on April 29, 1945, through the intercession of St Joseph of Kalisz.

The 3rd edition of the Congress on the 108 Blessed Martyrs of the Second World War will precede the celebration of the Day of Martyrdom of the Polish Clergy. The Congress will take place in Krotoszyn and Kalisz on 27 and 28 April. For detailed information, see the site www.k108.pl.
