Polish Bishops' Conference spokesman: Let our communication contribute to building mutual understanding

May our communication in the media be unambiguous, based on values, permeated by gentleness and forbearance, so that in this way we contribute to building mutual understanding - said Polish Bishops' Conference spokesman Fr. Leszek Gęsiak SJ on the occasion of World Day of Social Communications, celebrated in Poland on the third Sunday of September. This year, it falls on September 17.

Referring to Pope Francis' message for this year's World Communications Media Day, whose slogan is "Speaking with the heart 'The truth in love' (Eph 4:15)," the Episcopate spokesman drew attention to the style that should characterize media communication.

"In the media space today, we especially need a message that does not judge but tries to understand each person's reasons and motivations. Such language is more capable of touching hearts than language complete with aggression, accusations, and condemnation," Fr. Gęsiak noted.

"Let our communication in the media be unambiguous, based on values, permeated with gentleness and forbearance so that we contribute to building mutual understanding. It is one way we can promote a culture of peace through the media in various areas of social life. And this is very much needed today" - the Polish Bishops' Conference spokesman stressed.
