It is a great joy to welcome the Holy Father's representative on Polish soil in the person of the Apostolic Nuncio - said Bishop Artur G. Miziński, Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference, welcoming Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Poland in Warsaw.
Bishop Miziński said it was "a great joy to welcome the Holy Father's representative on Polish soil in the person of the Apostolic Nuncio." He stressed that every arrival of an Apostolic Nuncio brings joy, hope, and confidence to the local Church "because his person symbolizes the special bonds of the particular Church with the Successor of St. Peter."
The Apostolic Nuncio was greeted at Warsaw's Chopin Airport by representatives of the Polish Bishops' Conference: Bishop Artur G. Miziński, Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, Metropolitan of Warsaw, Bishop Romuald Kamiński, Ordinary of Warsaw-Praga, Father Jarosław Mrówczynski, Deputy Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference, as well as employees of the Apostolic Nunciature in Warsaw.
"Ties of filial love and devotion have always characterized relations between Poland and the Holy See. Poles also express their love for the Pope through the hospitality shown to his envoys. So, we are pleased to welcome Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, the Holy Father's new representative," the Secretary General of the Polish Episcopate noted.
The Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference asked the faithful to pray for the new Apostolic Nuncio to Poland and his diplomatic mission, "which is also a spiritual mission to strengthen the faith in God's people through bonding with the Successor of St. Peter."
Archbishop Filipazzi was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Poland by Pope Francis on August 8. He is 60 and comes from the Archdiocese of Milan. He served as apostolic nuncio to Nigeria for the past six years.
Bishop Miziński also pointed out that Archbishop Filipazzi has made a pilgrimage to Poland in the past and, as he has said in interviews, "grew with John Paul II." "We are happy that Archbishop Filipazzi is coming to a country where the legacy of our esteemed Compatriot still resonates and where his teachings continue to inspire a more profound experience of faith and service to God and the Church," he added.
