With Easter we begin a nine-year Great Novena aimed at the spiritual and moral rebirth and preparation of the whole Church in Poland for the Jubilee of the two thousandth anniversary of the Redemption – wrote the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC in a communiqué on the Great Novena before the two thousandth anniversary of the Work of Redemption.
The President of the Polish Bishops' Conference recalled that in 2033 we will celebrate the anniversary of the two thousandth anniversary of the Redemption. "The nine years that precede this great Jubilee are a wonderful opportunity for the Church in Poland to revive faith and, above all, to give thanks” – he stressed.
The novena will begin with the celebration of this year's Easter, and its aim is "spiritual and moral revival and preparation of the whole Church in Poland for this great Jubilee".
The key moments of the novena from 2024 to 2033 will be the annual celebrations of the Paschal Triduum, Ascension, Pentecost and the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe.
"I encourage priests, whether within or outside the liturgy of the aforementioned solemnities, to emphasise the relevance of the work of Redemption and to encourage the People of God to be grateful for it. In turn, I ask the faithful, especially those gathered in religious communities and movements, to involve themselves generously in all initiatives related to this” – wrote the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference.
