The Council of Diocesan Bishops of the Polish Episcopate will meet on 27 August

Religious education in school, initiatives related to the Jubilee Year 2025, and issues of protecting children and young people as key provisions of the so-called "Act of Kamilek" come into force – these are the main topics of the upcoming meeting of the Council of Diocesan Bishops of the Polish Bishops' Conference. The session will traditionally take place at Jasna Góra, on Tuesday 27 August, the day after the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Częstochowa.

"During the meeting, Bishop Wojciech Osial, president of the Commission for Catholic Education of the Polish Bishops‘ Conference, will present the current situation on the religious eduaction at school, as well as the legal situation after the publication in the Journal of Laws of the Ordinance of the Minister of Education of 26 July 2024 amending the Ordinance on the conditions and manner of organising religious education in public kindergartens and schools” – informed Bishop Marek Marczak, secretary general of the Polish Bishops' Conference.

Bishop Marczak noted that the bishops will also familiarise themselves with the initiatives related to the Jubilee Year 2025. "Archbishop Józef Górzyński will present the opening and closing rites of the Holy Year together with the forms of the Eucharistic celebration, while Bishop Andrzej Czaja will discuss the Jubilee celebrations at the local level and the Roman initiatives of the Jubilee Year” – he explained.

The Secretary General of the Episcopate pointed out that in connection with the entry into force on 15 August 2024 of key provisions of the so-called "Act of Kamilek", Archbishop Wojciech Polak, the delegate of the PBC’s for the protection of children and youth, will present issues related to the implementation of standards for the protection of minors and the vulnerable in the Church in Poland during the meeting.

A day earlier, on Monday 26 August, the bishops will participate in the celebration of the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Częstochowa. The Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. at the Jasna Gora Peak will be presided over and a homily will be given by Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland.
