Bishop Wiesław Śmigiel has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Szczecin-Kamień

The former Bishop of Toruń, Wiesław Śmigiel, has been appointed Archbishop Metropolitan of Szczecin-Kamień. The Holy Father's decision was announced today at noon by the Apostolic Nunciature in Poland.

The new Archbishop of Szczecin-Kamień Wiesław Śmigiel is 55 years old and holds a doctorate in theological sciences. In 2012, he became auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Pelplin and then, in 2017, bishop of the Diocese of Toruń. Within the Polish Bishops' Conference, he serves i.a. as president of the Council for the Family and the Committee for Dialogue with the Unbelievers. He is also a member of the Permanent Council of the Polish Episcopate and a member of the Commission for Pastoral Care. His episcopal motto is: "Omnibus omnia factus" (Having become all things to all people).
