Celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the death of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko (19 October)
The main celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko will be held on Saturday 19 October at the Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Warsaw's Żoliborz district.

On Saturday, 19 October, at 4 p.m., Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz will preside over a solemn Holy Mass at the Sanctuary in Żoliborz to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko.
In addition, on that day at 12.00 noon, a National Pope's March will set off from Castle Square to the Sanctuary of Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko, under the motto: "Overcome evil with good", which will end before the Holy Mass, around 3.30 pm.
On Sunday, 20 October, at 7 p.m., a concert entitled "Stabat Mater. Stations of the Cross with Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko" will be held at the Sanctuary.
The main anniversary celebrations will be preceded by a novena for the Homeland, which will be recited from 10 to 19 October after the 7 p.m. Mass at the Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko Sanctuary in Żoliborz.
