The ingress of the new Metropolitan Archbishop of Szczecin-Kamień, Archbishop Wiesław Śmigel, into Szczecin's archcathedral will take place on 26 October at 11.00 a.m. The day before, on 25 October, also in the cathedral, before the 7.00 p.m. Mass for the 900th anniversary of the baptism of Szczecin, the official canonical possession of the archdiocese will take place.
On Friday, 25 October, at 7.00 p.m., in the Archcathedral Basilica of St. James the Apostle in Szczecin, the Eucharist will be presided over by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, Metropolitan of Poznań and President of the Polish Bishops' Conference from 2014 to 2024. The Holy Mass, celebrated on the 900th anniversary of the baptism of Szczecin, will be preceded by the official canonical possession of the Szczecin-Kamień Archdiocese.
The ingress of Archbishop Wiesław Śmigel into the Archcathedral Basilica in Szczecin will take place on Saturday, 26 October, at 11.00 a.m. The ceremony will be attended, among others, by the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi. An important part of the ingress will be the handing over to the new archbishop of the pastoral cope as a sign of pastoral authority by the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, as well as the expression of devotion and respect by the various states of the Church.
