The Episcopal Consecration of Fr Tomasz Sztajerwald, auxiliary bishop nominee of the Diocese of Warszawa-Praga, will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of St Michael the Archangel and St Florian the Martyr in Warsaw on 7 December at 11.00 a.m. The main consecrator will be the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi.
"There are new tasks ahead for bishop nominate Tomasz – he is prepared to undertake them as a man of prayer and science. Fr Tomasz has experience of the life of the Church, from his work as a vicar to the rectorate of the Major Seminary; he also has a variety of scientific experience – from linguistics to theology to issues in psychology" – wrote Bishop Romuald Kamiński in a message to diocesans announcing the Episcopal Consecration of Fr Tomasz Sztajerwald.
The Bishop of Warsaw-Praga also encouraged all diocesans to support the new Bishop in a spiritual way: "May the time separating us from this moment be especially filled with prayer for the new bishop, for the Church of Warszawa-Praga, for all its shepherds and spiritual guides. It is from the fervent prayer of the faithful that vocations are born, including episcopal vocations – I ask all of you for it and I bless you from my heart".
The Holy Father appointed Fr Tomasz Sztajerwald, the former rector of the Major Seminary of the Diocese of Warszawa-Praga, as auxiliary bishop of this diocese on 5 November this year.
