Communiqué after the meeting of the Subcommittee for Religion in Schools

On 7 November this year, in the building of the Ministry of National Education, the Sub-Commission for Religion in Schools, appointed by the Joint Commission of Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Bishops' Conference, met. After the meeting, a joint communiqué was issued.

In view of the declared willingness of both parties to reach an agreement, on points where doubts arose, it was decided to meet again. The will to find the best solution from the point of view of the education of children and young people, as well as the organisation of school work, was also emphasized.

Communiqué
following the meeting of the Sub-Committee for Religion in Schools
appointed by the Joint Commission
of Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Bishops' Conference

 

In Warsaw, in the building of the Ministry of National Education, on 7 November 2024, the Subcommittee for Religion in Schools appointed by the Joint Commission of Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Bishops' Conference met.

The subject of the meeting concentrated on changes proposed by the Ministry of National Education to the organization of religious education in public schools and kindergartens. The government side presented suggestions for specific solutions, while the Church side made its comments on them.

During the discussions with experts from both sides, a substantive dialogue was undertaken and solutions were sought that would be acceptable to both sides. With both sides declaring their willingness to reach an agreement, on the points where doubts arose, it was decided to meet again and look for the best solution from the point of view of the education of children and young people, as well as the organisation of school work. Both parties declared their willingness to continue talks and their willingness to reach an agreement.
