The Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Bishop Marek Marczak, announced that during the meeting, Bishop Sławomir Oder, chairman of the team responsible for drafting documents concerning the functioning of the Commission of Independent Experts to investigate the phenomenon of sexual abuse of minors by certain clergy, will present the status of work on the establishment of the Commission. "It is expected that Bishop Sławomir Oder will present the current status of work on the issues entrusted to him at the last Plenary Assembly. We expect him to familiarise the bishops with the specific steps he has taken towards the establishment of the Commission", explained Bishop Marczak.

The Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference pointed out that during the meeting, the bishops will also review plans for changes in the functioning of media entities dependent on the Polish Bishops' Conference. "In accordance with the resolution adopted by the 400th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops' Conference, the spokesman of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Fr. Leszek Gęsiak SJ, who is the author of the proposal for the restructuring of the media entities of the Polish Bishops' Conference, which was accepted by the bishops for implementation, will present the current status of work on its implementation and the anticipated schedule of further actions in this direction", said Bishop Marczak. He emphasised that these changes are necessary due to financial difficulties that prevent the smooth functioning of the media established by the Polish Bishops' Conference. "The media of the Polish Bishops' Conference are in a difficult financial situation and, in their current form, it is not possible to maintain them", admitted Bishop Marczak.

The following day, 26 August, the bishops will participate in the celebrations of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Częstochowa. The Holy Mass at Jasna Góra at 11:00 a.m. will be presided over by Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland, who will also deliver the homily.
