Decree - Promulgation of the new Statute of the Polish Bishops’ Conference

DECREE

The Second Vatican Council's decree on the Pastoral Office of Bishops in the Church, Christus Dominus, promulgated by Pope Paul VI on 28 October 1965, exactly 60 years ago, states that bishops fulfil their pastoral duties in communion with one another. In accordance with canon 451 of the Code of Canon Law, each conference of bishops should draw up its own statutes defining its activities.

The diocesan bishops gathered in Częstochowa on 25 August 2025 adopted the text of the Statutes, which was approved by decree of the Dicastery for Bishops on 29 September 2025 (Prot. N931/2022) and consent was given for its promulgation.

Acting pursuant to canon 8 § 2 of the Code of Canon Law, I hereby promulgate the new Statute of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, which shall enter into force on 30 November 2025, i.e. on the First Sunday of Advent. The promulgation takes place through an announcement on the official website of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, followed by the publication of its text in the official journal ‘Akta Konferencji Episkopatu Polski’.
