Spokesman of the Polish Bishops' Conference in his wishes for journalists: May your work be an inspiration to do good

May your work be an inspiration to do good – this is the wish expressed by the Spokesman of the Polish Bishops' Conference, Fr Leszek Gęsiak SJ, to journalists on 24 January, the feast day of their patron saint, St. Francis de Sales.

"I wish all media professionals, above all, perseverance in the search for truth, as well as wisdom and responsibility in communicating it," said the Spokesman of the Polish Bishops' Conference to journalists. He also wished them the ability to recognise and convey good news – "the good that often happens quietly and that truly builds people, communities and hope." "May your work be an inspiration to do good, so that there is more and more of it around us," he said.

In the spirit of the theme of the Pope's Message for World Communications Day, entitled Preserving human voices and faces, he wished that the work of media professionals would serve not only the truth, but also "respect for the person and dignity of every human being and their image."

As Fr Gęsiak emphasised, in a world of information overload and widespread use of artificial intelligence, "it is precisely reliability, honesty and prudence that become a true service to humanity." He encouraged everyone, especially when addressing difficult topics, to be guided by mutual respect and a culture of words.
