We want to express our deep gratitude for so much good that the Pope has brought into our community, into the life of the whole world. Thanks to him, many have found the way to Christ and have opened up to others – stressed the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC on the 20th anniversary of the passing of St John Paul II to the House of the Father.

The President of the Bishops' Conference recalled that 2 April this year marks twenty years since the death of Pope John Paul II. "I think that the Pope still remains in the hearts not only of believers, but also of many others who, although they did not profess the same faith in the one God, are always, and to this day, grateful to him for his pontificate, for his testimony of life, for his testimony of love of truth and for his testimony of holiness" – the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference stressed. Recalling the words of Pope Benedict XVI, he noted that St John Paul II no longer accompanies us as Pope from the Vatican window or during his numerous pilgrimages, but from the window of the House of the Father.
"St John Paul II was undoubtedly a great guide on the paths of today's world, in the midst of various difficulties - not only for believers, but for those who sought truth, goodness, that which builds humanity and that which builds relationships" – Archbishop Wojda stressed. He added that his pontificate left on the history of our times traces of holiness, goodness, truth, honesty and "all that man needs so much to be able to realise his human or Christian vocation".
Archbishop Wojda, speaking of the Polish Pope, added: "We would like once again to express our deep gratitude for so much good that he has brought into our community, into the life of the whole world". He emphasised that thanks to St John Paul II, many people have found their way to Christ and have opened themselves to others.
