"Do not forget to pray for us, during these days of our retreat, so that we may leave Jasna Góra as true and courageous prophets of hope," Archbishop Andrzej Przybylski, Metropolitan of Katowice, pleaded during the Jasna Góra Appeal on Wednesday, November 19. "Do not forget to pray for us every day, because you know well how much people need shepherds like Jesus, the Good Shepherd, because you know well that nothing changes the human heart, including the hearts of shepherds, as much as prayer – persevering and full of love," he said.

The retreat teachings will be based on passages from the Book of Jeremiah, which reveal faithfulness to God in times of trial. "We want Jeremiah to teach us not to give in to discouragement, but to trust that good will triumph over evil [...]. We want him to allow us to be prophets of hope in our times," noted Fr Jędraszek.

The bishops began their retreat on Wednesday evening, November 19th, in the chapel of the Pilgrim's House at Jasna Góra, where they heard the first sermon. Each day, they will celebrate the morning Eucharist with Morning Prayer, recite the breviary together, adore the Blessed Sacrament, and participate in the Jasna Góra Appeal. On Friday, the bishops will be able to receive the sacrament of penance and reconciliation. On the last day of the retreat, Saturday, November 22nd, a Mass for the deceased bishops will be celebrated in the Chapel of Our Lady of Jasna Góra. The Eucharist will be presided over by the Primate of Poland, Archbishop Wojciech Polak.

Following the retreat, the 403rd Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference will be held, devoted to procedural matters and current Church affairs. Due to its purely formal nature, no press release or press briefing is planned.
