The first Sunday of Advent marks the beginning of the time of preparation for Christmas in the Catholic Church. It is also the beginning of a new liturgical year, in which we will once again experience the salvific events of Jesus' life — beginning with the mystery of His Incarnation and birth in Bethlehem – said the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC.
“May this year's Advent be a time of pause for each of us – a time of prayer, reflection, and simple, good deeds. I encourage you to join in the beautiful Advent traditions, such as morning Rorate Masses or the preparation of an Advent wreath, which reminds us of hope and eternal life” – he said.
Archbishop Wojda noticed that it is also worth opening hearts to works of mercy. “I particularly recommend the Christmas Eve Children's Aid Campaign, which has been run by Caritas Poland for many years. Thanks to the Caritas candle, you can share your heart with those who need support the most. It is also worth looking around to notice other people and simply being there for them” – he emphasized.
“I wish each of you, during this Advent season, amid many pressing matters, to find time for silence, reflection and putting your heart in order, to make room for the Child Jesus and thus bring hope of eternal life to others” – he said.
