The President of the Polish Episcopate asks to ring the church bells for prayer on March 25

The President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, asked for a prayer at noon, on March 25, for an end of the epidemic, for the sick, for medical services and for the deceased. This is a response to the appeal of Pope Francis.

“I warmly ask that on Wednesday, March 25, on the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, at noon, in all cathedrals and churches in Poland, bishops and priests pray the Angelus, the Our Father and three Hail Marys for an end of the epidemic, for the sick, for medical services and for the deceased. I also ask to ring the bells on this day, at 12.00 p.m, in all churches in Poland” - wrote the President of the Polish Episcopate in his announcement.

The Sigismund Bell, which rings at the most important moments for Poles, will also ring on this day in Cracow.

In addition, Archbishop Gądecki asked Cardinal Manuel José Macário to Nascimento Clemente, President of the Portuguese Bishops’ Conference, to enclose the Church in Poland in the act of entrustment that will be carried out at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima on March 25.

On March 24, due to the coronavirus epidemic, Polish state authorities decided that no more than 5 people at a time are allowed to attend the Holy Mass or any other religious service, not counting those in ministry.
