During the difficult time of the epidemic, May 3, at Jasna Góra, the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, will entrust our Homeland to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland – said the spokesman of the Episcopate, Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik.
Poland was entrusted to Our Lady in the National Shrine of Jasna Góra in difficult moments and crises affecting Poland. Polish bishops entrusted Poland to Mary i.a. in the face of the threat of the Bolshevik invasion in 1920, after World War II in 1946 in the face of the threat of communism, on the 300th anniversary of the Lviv vows in 1956 and 10 years later in 1966.
In 1979 John Paul II, during his first apostolic journey to his Homeland, entrusted the Church in Poland to Our Lady of Jasna Góra. On May 3, 2016, on the occasion of the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland, the President of the Polish Episcopate carried out the New Act of Entrustment of the Polish Nation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
“This Sunday, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki will preside over the celebrations at Jasna Góra, during which he will entrust our Homeland to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland. The act of entrustment will be broadcast by TVP3 and TV Trwam” – said the spokesman of the Episcopate.
The Act of Entrustment reads among others: “Together with Mary, the Virgin and Mother of God, Queen of Poland, and Patron Saints, we beg to save our Homeland in its difficult experience today. (...) Today we entrust to you our Homeland and our Nation, all Poles living in our Homeland and abroad. We entrust to you all our lives, all our joys and sufferings, all that we are and all that we have, all our past, present and future”.
