The Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference
The pastoral care of married couples and families and help to victims of war in the Middle East were the main topics addressed at the 375th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Furthermore, the Bishops urge all parties involved in political and social life to show mutual respect and to work toward reconciliation, unity, and peace. They ask all the Poles to pray for their homeland.
All dioceses in Poland celebrated the 104th World Day of Migrants and Refugees
The Church in Poland has actively participated in celebration of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees on Sunday, January 14. In many churches throughout the country there were masses celebrated according form “For Refugees and Exiles”. The Polish Bishops’ Conference appealed to the faithful to engage in specific assistance to migrants from the Middle East and Ukraine. There are 1.5 Million Ukrainian refugees living in Poland.
December 26: The missionary caroling of children for their peers in Rwanda and Burundi begins
The missionary caroling is a proposal of the Pontifical Missionary Works for families, parish communities and schools for the Christmas time. The main protagonists of this initiative are children who in this way share the joy of faith and help their peers in missionary countries. This year, the Pontifical Missionary Work of Children collects funds to help peers in Rwanda and Burundi. In these countries, it is urgently needed to take care of orphaned children who have lost their loved ones due to war and illness, including AIDS. A common and severe problem is also the social rejection of disabled children. They live on the streets, becoming victims of trafficking, slavery or other types of crime.

„W Syrii spotkałem chrześcijan żyjących w kraju dotkniętym wojną i jej skutkami. Na każdym kroku u chrześcijan widać jednak radość z nadchodzącego Bożego Narodzenia. Polska pomaga ludziom tam żyjącym i dzięki temu mają oni nadzieję, że będą mogli pracować, wrócić do swoich domów i normalnie żyć w swojej ojczyźnie” – podkreśla abp. Marek Jędraszewski, który odbył Podróż Solidarności do Kościoła w Syrii i Libanie.
Archidiecezja krakowskie przekazała milion złotych na pomoc dzieciom w Syrii
W grudniu ubiegłego roku, abp Marek Jędraszewski odbył „Podróż Solidarności” do Syrii. Krótko po powrocie, w specjalnym liście pasterskim, podzielił się doświadczeniem wiary syryjskiego Kościoła, opowiedział o ogromie wojennych zniszczeń i apelował do archidiecezjan o finansowe wsparcie. Na jego prośbę, do puszek w Święta Bożego Narodzenia, zebrano rekordową sumę miliona złotych. Symboliczny czek abp Marek Jędraszewski przekazał na ręce ks. prof. Waldemara Cisło, dyrektora Polskiej Sekcji Papieskiego Stowarzyszenia Pomoc Kościołowi w Potrzebie.
