Possible papal visit to Auschwitz
(Vatican Radio) “It is very likely that Pope Francis will visit the concentration camp at Auschwitz,” during his visit to Kraków, according to Father Federico Lombardi, S.J., the head of the Holy See Press Office. He noted that every Pope who has gone to Kraków has later travelled to the notorious World War II death camp.
Pope appoints American Msgr Peter Wells as Nuncio of South Africa, Botswana
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has appointed American Monsignor Peter Bryan Wells, currently Assessor for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, as the Holy See’s new Apostolic Nuncio in South Africa and Botswana. The Holy Father has at the same time elevated Msgr. Wells to the titular see of Marcianopolis, with the dignity of archbishop.
Polish bishops ask the faithful to pray for the Holy Father
Following Pope Francis’ bilateral pneumonia and his stay at the Gemelli Clinic since 14 February this year, the Polish bishops, led by the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC, are asking the faithful to pray for the Holy Father. “I ask everyone to support the Pope with their prayers so that he recovers as soon as possible”, Archbishop Wojda said.
