The culture of meeting and dialogue is the foundation of peace in the homeland and in the world, said the Primate of Poland, Archbishop Wojciech Polak, during the annual meeting of the Presidential Couple with representatives of Churches and religious associations. In his video message, Pope Francis encouraged the participants of the conference on the protection of minors in the Church of Central and Eastern Europe, which began on Sunday, September 19 in Warsaw, to listen to the cries of persons who experienced sexual abuse. The Holy Father urged that “the good of the victims not be relegated to the background out of an ill-conceived concern for the image of the Church as an institution.”

The document was signed during the meeting of the Council of Diocesan Bishops, on August 27, 2019, at Jasna Góra.

The theological consequences of the sexual abuse of minors by clergy were discussed on the third day of the international conference “Our Common Mission of Safeguarding God's Children” in Warsaw. Its participants also shared experiences about the practice of protecting minors in various countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
