Church in Nigeria screens youth for Krakow World Youth Day
The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), has extended by two weeks, the screening exercise of youths who wish to participate in this year’s World Youth Day to be held in Krakow, Poland from 25 to 31 July 2016. This was disclosed recently by Fr. Zacharia Sanjumi, the deputy Secretary and Director of pastoral agents at the CSN.
Cardinal Tagle appeals for 'mercy' for migrants
Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle has appealed for compassion for people who have been forced to migrate because of poverty and conflict around the world. "Many of these forced migrants become victims of human trafficking and forced labor, the new forms of slavery," Cardinal Tagle, Archbishop of Manila said in his homily to mark National Migrants Sunday, Feb. 14. Most migrants leave their homes because of job opportunities in other places, he said. "The whole world is being challenged by this phenomenon. Where is humanity? Where is the human heart? Where do we find mercy and compassion? Where?" the prelate asked as he challenged Catholics "to be merciful to migrants and refugees" during the Year of Mercy.

Spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, asked the participants of the conference “30 years without the Wall”, organized in Rome by the Italian Catholic association Alleanza Cattolica, for prayer and actions so that St. John Paul II could be declared Doctor of the Church and co-patron of Europe.
