Participants of the National Pilgrimage of the Spiritual Adoption of a Conceived Child have met at Jasna Góra
Under the motto “Covered with Mary’s mantle”, on the first Saturday of the month, September 7, the 3rd National Pilgrimage of the Spiritual Adoption of a Conceived Child to Jasna Góra took place. St. Pope John Paul II gave his blessing to this initiative. It is also supported by Polish Bishops’ Conference.

Pope’s Day: Several thousand young people granted with scholarships
On the 102nd anniversary of the last Fatima apparition, the 19th Pope’s Day was celebrated in Poland under the motto “Rise! Let Us Be On Our Way”, organized by the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation, which collects funds for scholarships for talented and unprivileged youth from small towns. During the nineteen years of its activity, the Foundation has taken care of several thousand young people from all over Poland in accordance with Pope Wojtyła’s call to “a new imagination of mercy”.

The week began with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of episcopal ordination of Monsignor Achille Ratti. He was the first papal nuncio to independent Poland and then Pope Pius XI. The solemn Eucharist in St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw was presided by Archbishop Mario Delpini, metropolitan of Milan. Monsignor Ratti became also Metropolitan of Milan after three years spent in Warsaw.

Spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, asked the participants of the conference “30 years without the Wall”, organized in Rome by the Italian Catholic association Alleanza Cattolica, for prayer and actions so that St. John Paul II could be declared Doctor of the Church and co-patron of Europe.

“I asked for permission to send an invitation to the Presidents of Bishops’ Conferences of all of Europe to support the initiative that I had addressed to Pope Francis to proclaim St. John Paul II Patron of Europe and Doctor of the Church. I have received such permission” – said Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and Vice-President of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) during the meeting of the Presidency of the CCEE on December 1-3 in Bratislava.
