The Week in Summary (November 3-9)
The week began with the announcement of the second edition of the “Pole with heart” campaign, organized by the Catholic Youth Association. The campaign is taking place this weekend. The action consists in collection of food and SMS campaign for Poles from the East. The action is held under the auspices of Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, president of the Polish Episcopate. He said that thanks to this campaign, apart from material support, young people build relationships with our compatriots in the East.
The Council for Pastoral Care for Poles Abroad in Europe met in Vilnius
The plenary meeting of the Council for Pastoral Care for Poles Abroad of Europe was held on 22-24 September 2023 at Domus Maria near the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Council brings together several dozen people - clergy, religious sisters, and laity, representing Polish-speaking pastoral care in European countries. Its chairman is the Conference of Polish Bishops’ Delegate for the Pastoral Care of Polish Emigrants, Bishop Piotr Turzyński. The meeting concerned issues related to catechesis.
Holy Father Francis on Independence Day: I pray God that all Poles may make good use of unity and peace along with the gift of freedom
“Taking up the prayer of St. Pope John Paul II, a special witness of this century, I ask God to bestow the grace of faith, hope, and love on all Poles, so that they may make good use of unity and peace along with precious gift of freedom”— Holy Father Francis addressed these words to the Poles on the occasion of the 100thanniversary of Poland's regained independence. The letter was sent to the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki. It is intended for pastoral use on Sunday, November 11th.
Poland: 32.000 consecrated people serve God and neighbor
“Consecrated persons in today’s world are promoters of love” – said bishop Jacek Kiciński,CMF, on January 31, during the press conference at the seat of the Polish Bishops’ Conference before the XXII World Day of Consecrated Life, celebrated on February 2. In Poland there are 18,000 nuns, almost 12,000 monks, 1281 contemplative nuns and over 1000 consecrated virgins, widows and widowers.
Letter for Holy Family Sunday: The family as a path to holiness
For the vast majority of Christians, living bound by the sacrament of marriage and with a family is the way on which they fulfil their call to holiness and participate in the life and mission of the Church – we read in the Letter of the Council for Family of the Polish Bishops’ Conference for Holy Family Sunday, which this year falls on 26th December.
Bishop Litynski's invitation to pray for the created world
Bishop Tadeusz Litynski, Chairman of the "Laudato si" Team at the Social Council of the Polish Episcopate, encourages the faithful to unite in prayer with the Holy Father and the whole world during the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, celebrated on September 1, and to take other initiatives to protect the environment. The day will mark the beginning of Time for Creation, lasting until St. Francis Sunday, celebrated in early October.
