Statement of the Delegate for the Protection of Children and Youth of the Polish Bishops’ Conference
I am deeply moved by what I saw in Tomasz Sekielski’s film. The enormous suffering of people who have been hurt triggers pain and shame. At this moment, I also have before my eyes the drama of the victims whom I have met personally. I thank all those who have the courage to speak about their suffering.

“Taking up the prayer of St. Pope John Paul II, a special witness of this century, I ask God to bestow the grace of faith, hope, and love on all Poles, so that they may make good use of unity and peace along with precious gift of freedom”— Holy Father Francis addressed these words to the Poles on the occasion of the 100thanniversary of Poland's regained independence. The letter was sent to the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki. It is intended for pastoral use on Sunday, November 11th.
President of the Polish Episcopate: Safeguarding children and helping the victims should be a priority for each of us
“We meet today in order to share our experiences and also to support the protection of children and initiate necessary cooperation,” said Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the President of the Polish Bishops Conference, at the opening of the international conference of the Churches of Central and Eastern Europe on the protection of minors, which is being held in Warsaw on 19-22 September this year.
