President of the Polish Episcopate asked Pope Francis to proclaim St. John Paul II Doctor of the Church and Patron of Europe
Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the President of the Polish Episcopate, on behalf of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, asked Pope Francis to proclaim St. John Paul II Doctor of the Church and Patron of Europe. This request was supported by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz on October 22, 2019, during the “Europa Christi” Movement Congress in Warsaw.

“The day after Cardinal Karol Wojtyła’s election as Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński asked him how he felt as Pope. John Paul II answered that he felt as if he had always been here. To that, cardinal Wyszynski replied that it was the grace of the state, a sign of God’s special grace,” says Archbishop Józef Michalik who, at that time, was the rector of the Polish College in Rome, from whence Cardinal Wojtyła, went to the conclave at which he was elected pope, 40 years ago, on 16 October 1978.

Animamos a todos a seguir pidiendo por el Sínodo, en el que – a petición del Santo Padre – los obispos de Polonia participarán con alegría y solicitud por las familias.
