The 386th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Episcopate at Jasna Góra
The 30th anniversary of catechesis at school, pastoral challenges of the Church in Poland and protection of children and youth against sexual abuse in the Church will be the main topics of the 386th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference - announced the Secretary General of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Bishop Artur G. Miziński. The meeting will be held from 27 to 29 August at Jasna Góra. On the eve of the meeting, the bishops will take part in the celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Częstochowa.
Pope’s Day: Several thousand young people granted with scholarships
On the 102nd anniversary of the last Fatima apparition, the 19th Pope’s Day was celebrated in Poland under the motto “Rise! Let Us Be On Our Way”, organized by the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation, which collects funds for scholarships for talented and unprivileged youth from small towns. During the nineteen years of its activity, the Foundation has taken care of several thousand young people from all over Poland in accordance with Pope Wojtyła’s call to “a new imagination of mercy”.

The week began with a press conference organized by the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation during which the 19th Pope’s Day was presented. It will take place on Sunday, October 13, under the motto: “Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way”. “The uniqueness of this year’s Pope’s Day lies in the fact that we celebrate it in the year in which the universal Church and the Church in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Paul II’s birth” – said card. The uniqueness of this Pope’s Day lies in the fact that we experience it in the year in which the universal Church and the Church in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Paul II’s birth. Therefore, let us make sure that the Pope’s Day is lived with full commitment at the parish level, with the full involvement of cities and villages, with full commitment in the dioceses and in Warsaw itself - said Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, metropolitan of Warsaw and chairman of the Council of the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation, during a press conference before the 19th Pope’s Day, which we will take place on Sunday, October 13 under the motto: “Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way”.
Presentation of the first volume of Karol Wojtyła’s literary and theatrical works
During the 25th Catholic Publishers Fair, the first volume of Karol Wojtyła’s “Literary and Theatrical Works” entitled “Juvenilia” (1938-1946) was presented at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. This is the first critical, scientific elaboration of Karol Wojtyła’s texts, containing texts that were previously unknown, including the love poem of the future Pope.
