Polish Bishops: the need for service to marriage and the family as well as people in non-sacramental relationships
The Polish Bishops’ Conference on 379th Plenary Meeting, on June 8, adopted the „Pastoral Guidelines for the Exhortation Amoris Laetitia”. Bishops emphasize the need to serve the engaged, spouses and families as well as people living in irregular relationships according to the pastoral criteria proposed by Pope Francis: acceptance, accompaniment, discernment and integration. The document does not address the issue of holy communion for people living in non-sacramental relationships.

The Polish Bishops' Conference expresses its gratitude to the Holy Father Francis for the gift of the Synod of Bishops, whose theme this year will be "The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World." We also thank the millions of Poles - including family communities and movements - who are praying for Pope Francis, the Cardinals, the Bishops and people who will take part in the Synod. We encourage everyone to continue praying for the synod, in which - at the request of the Holy Father - Bishops from Poland will participate with joy and care for the families.

As we prepare for the beatification ceremony, we wish to contemplate their holiness and draw from it an example for contemporary marriages and families - wrote the bishops in the Pastoral Letter of the Polish Bishops' Conference concerning the beatification of the Venerable Servants of God Joseph and Victoria Ulma and their seven children.
