Durante la 25a Fiera degli Editori Cattolici, nel Castello Reale di Varsavia, è stato presentato il primo volume di “Opere letterarie e teatrali” di Karol Wojtyła intitolato “Juvenilia” (1938-1946). Questa è la prima elaborazione scientifica critica dei testi di Karol Wojtyła che contiene pezzi sconosciuti, incluso il poema d’amore del futuro Papa.

Lo stesso giorno il cardinale Stanisław Dziwisz, segretario personale di papa Giovanni Paolo II, compie 80 anni. In questa occasione, il cardinale Dziwisz ritorna ai ricordi relativi a Papa Wojtyła.

150 provincial and general superiors representing active female religious institutes met in Warsaw at the 140th Plenary Assembly of the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious in Poland. This year’s assembly focused on the matters concerning formation. There are 17,553 Polish active nuns who serve in such areas of ecclesiastical and social life in Poland and abroad as educational work, various forms of youth assistance, catechization and other forms of evangelization, as well as spiritual and material help.

The week began with a press conference organized by the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation during which the 19th Pope’s Day was presented. It will take place on Sunday, October 13, under the motto: “Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way”. “The uniqueness of this year’s Pope’s Day lies in the fact that we celebrate it in the year in which the universal Church and the Church in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Paul II’s birth” – said card. Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the President of the Polish Episcopate, on behalf of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, asked Pope Francis to proclaim St. John Paul II Doctor of the Church and Patron of Europe. This request was supported by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz on October 22, 2019, during the “Europa Christi” Movement Congress in Warsaw.

The week began with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of episcopal ordination of Monsignor Achille Ratti. He was the first papal nuncio to independent Poland and then Pope Pius XI. The solemn Eucharist in St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw was presided by Archbishop Mario Delpini, metropolitan of Milan. Monsignor Ratti became also Metropolitan of Milan after three years spent in Warsaw.
