Watykańskie kursy dla biskupów
Od 15 lat Stolica Apostolska organizuje kursy dla nowych biskupów. W tym czasie wzięło w nich udział 1,5 tys. duchownych. Dziś w Biurze Prasowym Stolicy Apostolskiej zaprezentowano akta tych kursów, opublikowane prze wydawnictwo watykańskiej. Kard. Marc Ouellet, prefekt Kongregacji ds. Biskupów wyjaśnił znaczenie tej inicjatywy.

This year's theme, "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service," focuses on the important faith-building, academic and societal contributions provided by a Catholic education.

UK decision on human embryos "frightening beyond belief"
(Vatican Radio) In Britain, the pro-life group, CORE, said the decision to allow the editing of the genes of human embryos for research purposes is morally wrong and its implications are “frightening beyond belief.” The British Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority announced this week that it had approved a research application from the Francis Crick Institute in London to use new “gene editing” techniques on human embryos. The project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the earliest moments of human life. However critics describe the plan as the first step on a path towards the legalization of genetically modified babies. Josephine Quintavalle is the Director of CORE, an organization that focuses on the ethical dilemmas surrounding human reproduction and she spoke to Susy Hodges.
Wielka Brytania: bioetycy przeciw modyfikacjom genetycznym
„To kolejny krok w kierunku stworzenia genetycznie zmodyfikowanych dzieci” – tymi słowami dyrektor brytyjskiego katolickiego Instytutu Bioetyki (Anscombe Bioethics Center) w Oksfordzie prof. David Albert Jones skomentował kontrowersyjną decyzję o możliwości modyfikowania ludzkich zarodków. Została ona ogłoszona w Wielkiej Brytanii przez Radę Płodności i Embriologii (HFEA). Pozwala naukowcom na prowadzenie eksperymentów w zakresie modyfikacji genetycznej embrionów ludzkich. To pierwsza tego typu ustawa w Europie.

Franciszek odprawił dziś wieczorem w Bazylice Watykańskiej Mszę dla osób konsekrowanych. W homilii nawiązał do wymowy przypadającego dziś święta Ofiarowania Pańskiego. Zauważył, że Józef i Maryja dziwili się temu, co słyszeli o małym Jezusie. Tę postawę zdumienia trzeba w sobie nieustannie pielęgnować. W sposób szczególny dotyczy to właśnie osób konsekrowanych.
Germany may cut migrant benefits as Europe struggles to host refugees
(Vatican Radio) Germany is considering taking away benefits from asylum-seekers if they refuse to try to learn the language and integrate. The plan comes after several other European Union member states announced controversial measures to tackle the influx of refugees including seizing valuables and cutting payments, while countries such as Hungary plan to erect more fences along borders.
