The Polish Post collaborated with the Apostolic Nunciature in Poland to release a stamp called „100th Anniversary of the Ministry of Future Pope Paul VI in the Nunciature in Poland”, presented on May 29, 2023.

The Polish Bishops’ Conference spokesperson, Fr. Leszek Gęsiak SJ, noted that „the hero of this meeting is a man who became pope’. Giovanni Battista Montini served in the Nunciature in Warsaw from May to November 1923.

The chargé d’affaires, Monsignor Pavol Talapka, observed that Monsignor Montini was impressed by the faith of the people of Warsaw. „In one of his letters, he wrote that the Church has always been a place of refuge for the Polish spirit. Pope John Paul II referred to Paul VI as his esteemed predecessor and father figure,” he added.

The Vice-President of the Polish Post, Wiesław Włodek, emphasized that the release of the stamp is a way of honoring significant individuals for Polish people. He clarified that the philatelic edition featured a photograph of Fr. Montini taken in 1923, and the envelope displayed an image of Pope Paul VI during his canonization.
