The Week in Summary (October 27 – November 2)
The week began with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of episcopal ordination of Monsignor Achille Ratti. He was the first papal nuncio to independent Poland and then Pope Pius XI. The solemn Eucharist in St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw was presided by Archbishop Mario Delpini, metropolitan of Milan. Monsignor Ratti became also Metropolitan of Milan after three years spent in Warsaw.
The Week in Summary (September 29 - October 5)
150 provincial and general superiors representing active female religious institutes met in Warsaw at the 140th Plenary Assembly of the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious in Poland. This year’s assembly focused on the matters concerning formation. There are 17,553 Polish active nuns who serve in such areas of ecclesiastical and social life in Poland and abroad as educational work, various forms of youth assistance, catechization and other forms of evangelization, as well as spiritual and material help.

The week began with a press conference organized by the “Work of the New Millennium” Foundation during which the 19th Pope’s Day was presented. It will take place on Sunday, October 13, under the motto: “Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way”. “The uniqueness of this year’s Pope’s Day lies in the fact that we celebrate it in the year in which the universal Church and the Church in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Paul II’s birth” – said card.
