Presentation of research on the sexual abuse of minors in the Church in the years 1958-2020
In the period from July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020, 368 declarations of sexual abuse against minors under and over 15 were received by dioceses and men's orders in Poland. The reports concern the acts committed in the years 1958-2020. 292 priests and religious were accused of sexual crimes against minors during that period. These are the data of the latest report prepared by the Institute of Statistics of the Catholic Church in cooperation with the Office of the Delegate for the Protection of Children and Youth of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. The research was financed by the Saint Joseph Foundation of the Polish Episcopate.

Bangladesh begins survey of undocumented Rohingya Muslims
Authorities in Bangladesh began a survey to determine the number of Rohingya Muslims who have fled persecution in majority-Buddhist Myanmar. Around 33,000 Rohingya have been documented in two official camps in the southern coastal district of Cox's Bazar that borders Myanmar, but officials say another 300,000 to 500,000 remain unaccounted. Bangladesh's Bureau of Statistics began the exercise this week with the help of the Geneva-based International Organization of Migration, said survey director Alamgir Hossain. He said the survey across six districts will end on Wednesday and will be followed by a census of the Rohingya next month. The census will also focus on the living conditions and socio-economic status of the Rohingya and the information gathered will be used to create a community database.
Session of the Polish Council for the Pastoral Care of Vocations
A Week of Prayer for Vocations, the 24th Pilgrimage of Families of Those Called and Persons Supporting Vocations to Jasna Góra, and the mode of operation of the pastoral care for vocations during the World Youth Day in Lisbon were the main topics addressed during the session of the National Council for the Pastoral Care of Vocations, held on April 12 in Warsaw. The meeting was officiated by the Delegate of the Polish Bishops’ Conference for Vocations, Bishop Andrzej Przybylski.
CCEE in Poland to speak about solidarity in Europe
At the invitation of His Grace Mgr Stanisław Gądecki, Archbishop of Poznań, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and Vice-president of CCEE, the church body which sees the participation of the Presidents of all the Bishops’ Conferences representing 45 nations of the continent, the annual Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE) will take place from 13-16 September in Poznań (Poland).

Statistical data concerning abuse of minors by some clerics, family values and celebration of Sunday, protection of human life and the issue of attempts to interfere in the organization of religion classes at school - were the topics of the 382nd Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, which ended on March 14 in Warsaw. In addition to the Communication summarizing the Assembly, the bishops issued two positions: on the celebration of Sunday and on the so-called LGBT-Carta.
