August 15: the 100th anniversary of the “Miracle on the Vistula”
In Poland, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is connected with the “Miracle on the Vistula”, the victorious moment of the Battle of Warsaw. This year marks the 100th anniversary of this battle, which is considered by international historians as the 18th decisive battle in world history.

The Jubilee Act of the Reception of Christ as King and Lord was solemnly recited on 19 November 2016 in the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy and, on the following day, in all Polish parishes this act of faith, confirming the choice of Christ and sealing with Him the baptismal covenant, was repeated. This act is recognition of His dominion over the entire world and submission to His law.

The Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference
The pastoral care of married couples and families and help to victims of war in the Middle East were the main topics addressed at the 375th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Furthermore, the Bishops urge all parties involved in political and social life to show mutual respect and to work toward reconciliation, unity, and peace. They ask all the Poles to pray for their homeland.

We trust that soon the legal guarantees to protect the lives of the weakest will be increased by stopping eugenic abortion – to quote from the Communication of the Presidium of the Polish Bishops’ Conference from January 11, 2018.
Prison chaplains meet to discuss problems of minorities in jails
(Vatican Radio) The International Prison Chaplains Association, or IPCA, is holding a European conference here in Rome next week to reflect on the particular challenges facing minorities within the prison system. IPCA is an international, ecumenical network providing support to chaplains, both lay and ordained, working in many different contexts in countries right across the globe.
