Religious life in the Auschwitz camp – online lesson
'Christian Clergy and Religious Life at Auschwitz' is a new online lesson prepared by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust in view of the World Youth Day and the visit of Pope Francis to the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. The author of the lesson is Teresa Wontor-Cichy, a historian at the Auschwitz Museum Research Center.
Pope awaited in Brzegi
On Saturday (July 30), Pope Francis will meet with pilgrims in Brzegi to keep vigil and pray together. The Holy Father will not only deliver a speech to the young, but he will hear their testimonies as well. The first event to take place at the Misericordiae Campus in Brzegi is the Vigil of the young with Francis. Then, on Sunday (July 31), the pope will celebrate the Final Mass concluding the World Youth Day.
Warsaw: Meeting of the Byelorussian Bishops with Benefactors of the Church
The Catholic bishops of Belarus have come to Warsaw for a short visit. On January 24th and 25th, they met with representatives of the German aid association Renovabis, the Pontifical Association of Aid to the Church in Need, the USCCB Subcommittee on the Church in Central and Eastern Europe, and the organization Porticus. These are the largest institutions that have been helping the Church in Belarus for a long time.
The Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference
The pastoral care of married couples and families and help to victims of war in the Middle East were the main topics addressed at the 375th Plenary Assembly of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Furthermore, the Bishops urge all parties involved in political and social life to show mutual respect and to work toward reconciliation, unity, and peace. They ask all the Poles to pray for their homeland.
