Spokesman of the Polish Episcopate: Mary wanted to be called the Queen of Poland
It was Mary herself who wanted to be called the “Queen of Poland” - said Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, referring to the Marian apparitions from 1608 and the Feast of Our Lady Queen of Poland that falls on May 3. The main celebrations will take place at Jasna Góra with the participation of Polish bishops.

The Eucharist on the occasion of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Czestochowa was presided in the Sanctuary of Jasna Gora by Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of Poland, and concelebrated by many bishops and international guests i.a. Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. In the Holy Mass participated tens of thousands of pilgrims.

We trust that our Churches will soon be able to proclaim the Polish Pope as the patron of our reconciliation – we read in the Position of the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on the will to continue the dialogue and the desire for deeper reconciliation. The document was signed during the meeting of the Council of Diocesan Bishops, on August 27, 2019, at Jasna Góra.
The Church facing pandemic: millions of people pray online
TV, radio and online broadcasts of the Holy Mass, prayer of the Rosary at 8.30 p.m. for an end of the pandemic and Internet retreats - these are some of the initiatives taken by the Church in Poland due to the ongoing epidemic emergency in Poland and the reduction of the number of people in churches. All dioceses have been involved in the on-line initiatives - says Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, the spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.
Poland: Millions of people followed Holy Week and Easter broadcasts
Millions of people in front of TV sets, radio receivers and via the Internet followed the Paschal Triduum and Easter broadcasts. And thanks to the social media campaign #Cross, #EasterBasket, #Easter, Poles created a virtual community of people celebrating the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
