(Vatican Radio) From February 12 to the 17th Pope Francis is set to visit Mexico in the footsteps of two of his predecessors to the See of Peter, Saint John Paul II who travelled there five times and Benedict XVI once in 2012. An Apostolic journey which marks the fourth time Pope Francis visits Latin America, whose Bishops are represented in a body by the title of Episcopal Council of Latin America and the Caribbean, more popularly known as 'Celam'.The current President of this body is Cardinal Ruben Salazar Gomez, Archbishop of Bogotà Colombia

Welcoming the Pope at Wawel, Polish Episcopal Conference President Abp. Stanislaw Gadecki said that the pontiff's pilgrimage came during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. "The church in Poland feels a special responsibility in this area. This is because the message of mercy is closely connected with a daughter of our country, St. Faustina Kowalska, as well as with St. Pope John Paul II, both of whom - through their lives and their writing - brought its value closer to us," he remarked.
Pope Francis: in Mexico as missionary of mercy and peace
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis delivered the first major address of his visit to Mexico on Saturday, to the nation’s civil authorities and the corps of diplomats present for the occasion. In his remarks, the Holy Father described himself once again as “a missionary of mercy and of peace,” and also as, “a son who wishes to pay homage to his mother, the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, and place himself under her watchful care.”
