Conference on the Protection of Minors in the Churches of Central and Eastern Europe – Day 1 (19.09.2021)
In his video message, Pope Francis encouraged the participants of the conference on the protection of minors in the Church of Central and Eastern Europe, which began on Sunday, September 19 in Warsaw, to listen to the cries of persons who experienced sexual abuse. The Holy Father urged that “the good of the victims not be relegated to the background out of an ill-conceived concern for the image of the Church as an institution.”
Contact group of the Episcopates of Poland and Germany met in Augsburg
The annual meeting of the contact group of the Bishops' Conferences of Poland and Germany took place on April 25-27. Bertram Maier, bishop of the Augsburg diocese, hosted the meeting. This year, the Augsburg diocese is celebrating the 1100th anniversary of the bishop ordination of St. Ulric, the Patron Saint of the diocese, and the 1050th of his death. The jubilee is celebrated under the motto: Hear with the heart.
