Every fifth diocesan priest was murdered in Poland occupied by the Germans and Russians. Four Polish bishops were killed in the concentration camps, and nearly half of the Roman Catholic dioceses were deprived of diocesan bishops. It was also a war with religion – said the spokesman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Fr. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, on the 79th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.

Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of European countries will meet in Poznan on 13-16 September 2018 at the plenary assembly. On behalf of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, this year’s meeting will be hosted by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Metropolitan of Poznań and Vice-President of the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE).
