“I would like the Church in Poland to join in the prayer initiative for the inhabitants of Middle Eastern countries,” wrote the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and Vice-President of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE), Archbishop Stanislaw Gądecki, in response to an appeal voiced by the Holy Father Francis, the CCEE presidium, and the COMECE.

The President of the Bishops’ Conference has called the faithful to pray for the people living in the Middle East countries, especially Lebanon, in the face the many difficulties that the community in this region of the world is experiencing.

The CCEE Vice-President proposed a time of prayer every Friday in June at 3 p.m. Pastoral materials to be used during the prayer service and a brief description of the current situation in the region’s countries have been prepared by the Pontifical Association Aid to the Church in Need.
