The website zgloskrzywde.pl has been launched, containing information helpful to people who have been harmed in the sexual sphere in childhood or adolescence, or have knowledge of harm or neglect in clarifying the matter in the Church.

Where can I get support before officially reporting a harm? Whom to report sexual abuse in the church? What are the responsibilities of a person who knows about wrongdoing in the Church? – the answer to these questions can be found on the website zgloskrzywde.pl. It is a simple online guide for people victims of sexual abuse in the period of minors or with information about such a crime, prepared by the Office of the Polish Bishops’ Conference (KEP) Delegate for the Protection of Children and Youth and of the the Saint Joseph Foundation of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.

The website not only presents in a clear and transparent way the contact details of delegates for the protection of children and youth in dioceses and religious orders, who are responsible for receiving reports from victims, but also the contact details of pastors who can be sought for spiritual support. It also contains a lot of helpful information. – The catalog of victims’ rights posted on the website collects information about which the victims may do not know. For example, about the fact that they can meet with a delegate outside the premises of a church institution, and in explanatory and trial activities, they can be accompanied by a selected trusted person – explains Marta Titaniec from the board of the Saint Joseph Foundation of Polish Bishops’ Conference

Zgloskrzywde.pl also reminds of the obligations of a person who knows about committing, preparing or attempting to commit prohibited acts. Failure to notify the relevant services (prosecutor’s office or the Police) about the sexual abuse of a minor under 15 years of age, in accordance with Art. 240 § 1 of the Criminal Code is punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years. – Church law is more restrictive than secular law and criminalizes any sexual activity of a clergyman against a minor under the age of 18 and against a person with mental retardation or mental illness. That is why it is important to report crimes also to the representatives of the Church – points out Fr. Piotr Studnicki, head Delegate Office for the protection of children and youth of the Polish Bishop’s Conference. And he adds that every clergyman or consecrated person is obliged to report the above crimes to the appropriate church authority.

The website zgloskrzywde.pl also provides information on where to report failure to protect minors in the Church. – Thinking about people who tried to report the harm, but encountered some difficulties in reporting it to the Church, we launched a separate e-mail address: zgloskrzywde@fsj.org.pl. Comments on the church’s victim support and reporting system can also be submitted by phone. From December 1 this year a representative of the Foundation is on call on Tuesdays in the morning and on Thursdays in the evening – informs Fr. Grzegorz Strzelczyk from the board of the Saint Joseph Foundation of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Detailed information can be found on the website zgloskrzywde.pl.

Zgloskrzywde.pl – nuovo sito web
