Archbishop Gadecki: The postmodern world rejects objectivity, stability, normativity and normality
The postmodern world rejects all objectivity, stability, normativity, as well as normality. The call for principles is not popular in the present world, which is marked by the crisis of faith and reason – said archbishop Gadecki, the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, in the homily at the grave of St. John Paul II in St. Peter’s Basilica, on October 4th. The Poles presently in Rome participated in the Eucharist.
Archbishop Gadecki, referring to the teaching of St. Pope John Paul II, recalled his question about what modern man fears and the answer to the absence of a diagnosis of modern times. “Modern man seems to be threatened by what he has made with his own hands and mind,” said Archbishop Gadecki, alluding to St. John Paul II’s words. Pope Francis takes care of the Church who is not afraid of the time at hand and who wants to fulfil the mission of preaching the Good News, said Archbishop Józef Guzdek, Metropolitan of Białystok, in a homily during the Holy Mass in the Divine Providence Shrine in Warsaw. The celebration was officiated by Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ pontificate. The co-celebrants included the bishops gathered at the 394th Plenary Meeting of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.

Kultu Bożego i Dyscypliny Sakramentów poinformowała, że wobec spowolnienia pandemii nie zamierza proponować żadnych wskazań dotyczących obchodów Wielkiego Tygodnia, zachęcając jedynie do zachowania zasad ostrożności, unikania działań i zachowań, które mogą być ryzykowne. Każda ocena i decyzja powinna zawsze być podejmowana w porozumieniu z Konferencją Episkopatu, biorąc pod uwagę przepisy, jakie w poszczególnych krajach ustanowią kompetentne władze cywilne.

La Presidenza della Conferenza episcopale polacca ha rilasciato una dichiarazione riguardo al dibattito che è in corso sulla “Convenzione Convenzione del Consiglio d’Europa sulla prevenzione e la lotta contro la violenza nei confronti delle donne e la violenza domestica” adottata l’11 maggio 2011, comunemente nota come Convenzione di Istanbul. La dichiarazione è in linea con la posizione dei Vescovi dell’Europa centrale che ne hanno esortato il rigetto. Si esprime allo stesso tempo il sostegno a favore di un’iniziativa legislativa popolare di sostituire la Convenzione con una Convenzione internazionale dei diritti della famiglia.

Vatican Radio’s Veronica Scarisbrick is in Mexico ahead of the Holy Father’s arrival, and spoke with the Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico, Archbishop Christophe Pierre. “Many people think that the Pope will come [with] solutions to their problems,” said Archbishop Pierre, “obviously, the Pope does not come for that.” The Apostolic Nuncio went on to say, “I think it is just a question of respect for the people – the people are responsible.”

The decision to suspend the participation of the Orthodox side in the work of the Catholic-Orthodox Bilateral Team is of a temporary nature and does not mean that the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church breaks off ecumenical dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church, reads the Communique of the Co-Chairmen of the Catholic-Orthodox Bilateral Team, signed by Bishop Adam Bab, Auxiliary Bishop of the Lublin Archdiocese, and Most Reverend Abel, Orthodox Archbishop of Lublin and Chełm. The meeting of the Co-Chairmen took place on November 3 at the seat of the Metropolitan Curia of the Lublin Archdiocese.

Her love for the nation, love for family, dedication, sense of duty, prudence, wisdom, experience, and spirit of service can stand as a model not only for representatives of the modern political class but for each of us,” wrote the President of the Polish Bishops' Conference Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki in his condolences on the death of Elizabeth II, which were conveyed to Cardinal Vincent Gerard Nichols, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.
